i am using a server rented from hostgator and i thought of downloading videos to my server but downloading to my computer and uploading to server is time consuming and my net is not so fast to support the operation i have google lot found the solution with youtube-dl but its poorely documented and after trying 4 5 days i found the solution things you need to download videos to your server
call your server provider in my case hostgator and ask them to give acess to ssh they replied me said ssh is enabled and port is 2222
then i downloaded putty for my windows 8 its a small application that opens server comand prompt in your local system go to directory where u want to download youtube videos and
wget https://yt-dl.org/downloads/2013.09.04/youtube-dl use this command it will download youtube-dl in specefic directory your in
today i got error while downloading saying server certificate failed so i used a commad wget --no-check-certificate https://yt-dl.org/downloads/2013.09.04/youtube-dl
